The Platinum Rule of Customer Service

When I was little, my mother impressed upon me the importance of following the Golden Rule. We all know it. "Do unto others as you would have done unto you." It’s actually an ethic of reciprocity and an essential basic of human rights. To treat people with respect and consideration.

However, the most important rule I’ve tried to master is one I learned in business as an adult. The Platinum Rule which states, "Treat others the way they would like to be treated."

If you had one wish to grant for a Children’s Hospital, what would it be?

On December 30th, a Children’s Hospital posted a simple question to fans on Facebook, "If you had one wish you could grant Children’s Hospital in 2010, what would it be?"

One of the first responses was "Bring more good doctors…to care for the children." The very next response seconded the comment by adding, "More doctors would be my wish too, that way our kids could see their specialists when they need to instead of taking months for an appointment."
